Please note our age limits to work with animals:

Minimum age to volunteer with a parent or legal guardian for puppies, cats, kittens.	10 years old (must also be able to handle the setting with proper respect for the animals.) If you are under 17 years old, please have the adult who will be coming with you complete the volunteer application.
Minimum age to volunteer alone with puppies, cats, kittens.	17 years old
Minimum age to volunteer with adult dogs	18 years old

Foster Canine Care - Needing Foster homes for dogs that come into our program. Please see our Foster Information page and submit the Foster application (rather than the Volunteer application).

Foster Feline Care - Needing Foster homes for cats that come into our program. Please see our Foster Information page and submit the Foster application (rather than the Volunteer application).

Cat Cuddler - Adopt Me! BPR partners with Petco & PetSmart to keep cats / kittens in their display condos. We need volunteers to clean and handle the kittens / cats. Schedule is very flexible and at your leisure.

Adult Dog Walking and Caretaking - We strive to provide many walks/trips outside for our kenneled adult dogs. This exercise is an important way to ensure each dog's physical and emotional well being during their stay at our Rescue Center or partner boarding facility, Shamrock Acres Country Kennels. It's something many dogs look forward to each day! Before, during, and after the walk, you have the opportunity to socialize the dog, teach the dog good behaviors (like how to walk properly on a leash), and give them plenty of affection. In addition, at the Rescue Center, volunteers feed, clean the crate, and refresh water for the dogs.

Puppy Care - Like the adult dogs, puppy care volunteers make sure the puppies are fed, have fresh water, and clean pens. There is also a lot of play and enrichment needed for the puppies at their impressionable age.

Photographer - Adopt Me! BPR is always in need of good, quality pictures to market our animals and show the community glimpses of our events and happenings. A good picture says a thousand words and since we are mostly "internet based," this helps our animals get adopted quicker!

Transport - People are needed to drive animals between locations, most frequently from our buildings in Crestwood to our partner vet clinic, Hopewell Animal Hospital, right off 265 on Taylorsville Rd. Or sometimes to meet the transport van coming from the Eastern parts of the state. Help with transportation is needed each week!

Fundraising - One of the most important aspects to keep us functioning on our Mission! There are many opportunities for large and small scale fundraising and donation collections. We are looking for someone to assist with some of these! All ages are available to participate!

Grant Writer - A vital part of any non-profit agency! Our grant writers will seek out and apply for grants to support and help expand our programs. Experienced grant writers are needed.

Community Events - Adopt Me! BPR participates in many community events such as visiting nursing homes with our animals, having an Oldham County Day booth, doing school visits, hosting youth group "work" nights, partnering with corporate groups for bigger projects and we need many hands on to make light work!

Administrative Duties - Odds and ends opportunities, mainly communication-oriented and often related to events (ie: thank you notes to donors, thank you texts to volunteers, etc).

Oldham County Awareness Builder - A volunteer to brainstorm and follow through for various ideas, events which help incorporate Adopt Me! BPR deeper into the Oldham County community.

Educational Piece Writers - Obtaining information to inform the public and assist in newsletter creation. This information may be used in newspaper, social media, or other sources. All ages are encouraged to participate!

Event Committee and Coordinators - are you interested and willing to be on a committee that would meet quarterly or monthly? We are in the process of developing committees including a finance cmte, a fundraising cmte, etc. If this interests you and you have the time to dedicate please note it on your volunteer application!
