Meet PIXIE - Paws Behind Bars Trained

PIXIE is a one-year-old female Terrier mix who weighs 40 lbs. Her coat is long and wiry - easy care. She came to us as a four month old puppy but her first family underestimated the personality of a Terrier and sent her back to us. She is a great dog--a very loyal companion, but she needs a home that understands the attitude of a Terrier. She's smart but can be stubborn about doing things her way!

Adopt Me! has the answer for this young lady - our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program! For the last two weeks, she's been in the care of an excellent and experienced inmate who's encountered her type before. He's challenging her mind and making it seem like a game! The pup is responding beautifully. In another month, she'll be ready to try for her next, and, hopefully, forever home!

She'll have mastered basic obedience and will be crate, leash and house-trained. She'll do best in an adult home that can offer the proper exercise - physical and mental. Instead of hugs and kisses, her new owner(s) must appreciate her independent streak - that's a Terrier thing.
