Meet MORTICIA - Paws Behind Bars Trained

MORTICIA is a 3-year-old female Shar Pei mix who weighs 47 lbs. The family abandoned her, and Morticia was clearly underweight. The shelter got her just in time, and, after an initial vet exam, it was determined good food, and plenty of it, was all she needed. Despite her human experience, she's as sweet as she can be. She loves people (older children preferred) and is very good with other dogs.

We had an opening in our Paws Behind Bars program, and we had an inmate who was ready for an easy-to-train dog (We give them a break after a difficult assignment.) so in she went. Not surprisingly, she acclimated quickly and was happy to show us how smart she is. She's a little thing, at only 43 lbs. When she came to us, she was only 32 lbs., so this is now her ideal weight. She's one of those dogs who, depending on the angle you view her, can look like a couple of different breeds. The shape of her head and her corkscrew tail are all indicative of Shar Pei. You might think Pit Bull, but there's nothing stocky or beefy about her.
