Meet XANDER - Paws Behind Bars Trained

XANDER is a young, adult male Hound mix. He's full grown, and his current weight is 65 lbs. He came into the shelter as a stray, and they called us immediately. Somewhere along the road, his rear leg had suffered an injury. Long since healed, XANDER was unable to use the leg. Dragging it only caused him further discomfort. We decided quickly to amputate it.

XANDER is now happily settled into our prison dog training program. A little bit of rehab, a little bit of training, and a lot of human companionship, and this dog has completely forgotten he's lost a leg. He can easily get up and down stairs. He can run and play with the other dogs. He can do sit, stay, down, and come with the best of them. He has a great attitude and will make a wonderful family companion.
